EQ Pro 1.3 makes dynamic bands quicker to set up. A long click on a handle makes the band dynamic, and the release follows the material. EQ Pro is free, it stays free, and it keeps growing.

Dynamics
Band handle can be made dynamic by a long mouse click. Keep the button down and drag to set how far the band may move. A second long click without dragging makes the band static again.
Adaptive release. Dynamic bands with AUTO off recover in two stages, so short gaps between notes open the band less. The Release control sets the speed from 1 (fast) to 10 (slow). Part of the new Adaptive setting under Dynamics in the settings menu. Projects saved before 1.3 sound as before.
New Range parameter. How far a dynamic band moves is now its own parameter.
FULL button renamed to AUTO.

Graphical user interface improvements
Analyzer activation, Slope and Decay, Spectrum Landmarks and Piano Roll can now be operated directly from the canvas. Active Solo mode is indicated at the top of the canvas. Settings menus and band panel were optimized.
- Band gain resolution increased (0.01 dB).
- Modifier keys updated.
- Gain knob now follows Scale dial.
Shelf parameter per band
Hardware such as the SSL UC1 can switch a bell to a shelf and turn a cut band off.
Fixed
- Spectrum stayed on screen after audio stopped, with Slope at 4.5 or 6 dB/oct.
- Possible crash with 2x or 4x oversampling in hosts that send larger audio blocks
than they announce.
- One invalid sample could break the output until the plug-in was reloaded. Such a
sample now only mutes its own block.
- Typed values lost their decimals or read the wrong frequency. A decimal comma now
works like a point ("-3,5"), and a frequency can be typed as "2k" or "20,000".
- Narrow low bands did not sound as drawn at very high processing rates, for example
96 kHz with 4x oversampling. The filters now calculate at higher precision, so the sound matches the curve at every sample rate.
- Meters, analyzer and curve dragging ran less smoothly on Windows. Meters and analyzer
now update 30 times per second as intended, and a dragged curve follows at the full screen rate.
- Moving the plug-in window stuttered while audio was playing. The analyzer now fades
out while the window moves and fades back in when it stops. The meters keep running.
Before you open an older project
Saved projects are converted and sound as before. Automation recorded on the Gain of a dynamic band in 1.2 has to be moved to Range by hand.
EQ Pro Studio
For everyone who wants more, there is EQ Pro Studio, the studio edition of EQ Pro with professional features for mixing and mastering. It adds a spectral band that follows a resonance from note to note, auto dynamics with a single control, static and dynamic in one band, an UP button that switches a dynamic band to upward mode, adjustable slopes on bells and shelves, Delta listen and a zoom for the curve. Its Flat band works on the whole frequency range, as a gain stage, compressor, expander or noise gate.
EQ Pro Studio is available as a separate plug-in and installs next to EQ Pro under its own name. Read more about EQ Pro Studio.
